I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.
(Colossians 2:4 (NIV))

Are you easily persuaded?

If that is true, then you probably are the target of many who wish to take advantage of you. They may intend to trick you in such a way that you lose money, or they may even intend to harm you. It may start with something that sounds too good to be true. They start with a lie that sounds so convincing that it is very tempting to believe it. These type of individuals are extremely adept at twisting the truth and they still make it sound convincing. Some even say that they sugar coat the lies with just enough truth to make it believable.

The sad thing is that each and every one of us could fall for these sugar coated words if they touch a part of our lives where we are vulnerable. For some, this vulnerability is a longing for love. For others, it is money and all of the get rich quick schemes. For others, it is a desire to fit in, to be part of the group. Let's face it. Each of us have a certain aspect of our lives where we could easily be deceived if we are not on our guard.

How strong is your faith?

Are you clothed in the full armor of God so that you can recognize these attacks, these lies based on fine-sounding arguments? Are you able to distinguish God's truth from something that is a lie wrapped in a thin layer of right sounding words?

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
(John 10:10 (NIV))

If you profess a faith in Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, we are instructed to be ever vigilant for the attacks of the enemy, for he is the father of lies.

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
(1 Peter 5:8 (NIV))

Are you alert and of sober mind?

The consequences of being fooled are too great.

Don’t be fooled by sugar coated words!
