Be Still . . .

For to us a child is born,
     to us a son is given,
     and the government will be on his shoulders.
  And he will be called
     Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
     Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace
     there will be no end.
  He will reign on David's throne
     and over his kingdom,
  establishing and upholding it
     with justice and righteousness
     from that time on and forever.
  The zeal of the LORD Almighty
     will accomplish this.
(Isaiah 9:6-7 (NIV))

God had it all planned from the beginning of time. Isaiah knew of God's plan. The plan called for the birth of a child. Not just any child, but a special child to bear the weight of the sins of the world on His shoulders. Someone who would establish His reign forever, with righteousness, love, compassion and justice. Someone that any and all could call upon to bear their burdens for them.

At this time of year, we must not forget why we celebrate. We celebrate because that child that Isaiah spoke of has come, and because He has come, we now have hope. Hope of life eternal through the gift of God's Son, Jesus Christ.

Do you have hope through Jesus?

Jesus is the reason for the season!
