Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
(Psalm 25:1 (ESV))
The NIV translates it like this.
In you, Lord my God,
I put my trust.
(Psalm 25:1 (NIV))
They both say the same thing in different words. We, as humans, must choose. Sadly, whether you believe it or not, we all choose to worship something.
We lift our hearts to wealth, fame, lust, and power, yet, how many of us actually lift up our souls to the Lord?
Our hearts, which are physical, desire physical reward. If we are not careful, we allow our hearts to take control of us and lead us astray. We allow our hearts to make us prideful and sinful. We allow our hearts to control our lives when we should allow the Lord to lead and guide us.
We have a choice. Are you certain that you want to follow your heart?
The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately sick;
who can understand it?
(Jeremiah 17:9 (ESV))
We must strive to place our trust in something greater than ourselves. We must discipline ourselves to keep our ego and pride in check and lift up our very lives and our souls to the Lord. Any other choice is futile, for our hearts will always lead us astray.
We will never be lead astray if we trust in the Lord!
It is that simple!
