Sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all the earth.
(Psalms 96:1 (NIV))
Have you ever met someone who thought that modern worship wasn't true worship unless the songs were sung from a hymnal?
Were the songs in the hymnal written by David?
Probably not!
Each generation and each society has their "new" songs of worship. These new songs are personal messages from the writers and singers to the Lord that they love. That is the new song of worship. It is a true, heartfelt expression of the joy, gratitude and love that someone who professes a faith in Jesus has within them. It is the ultimate expression of those emotions given back to the Lord.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.
(Psalm 40:3 (NIV))
If you have accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, then you possess a peace that passes all understanding. You are filled with tremendous joy!
With that in mind, what do you do when you are extremely happy?
If you are like me, you sing!
We have been given the single greatest reason to be joyful. We have been given grace and mercy at the cross.
Are you singing a new song?
