Why are you still afraid?

Be Still . . .

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
(Joshua 1:9 (NIV))

How are you doing at following this command?

As I see all of the things that are transpiring around the world, I do not feel fear. I am not discouraged. If I looked at the world through worldly eyes and with worldly understanding, there is a very good chance that I would actually feel fear. There is a very good chance that I would lose all hope.

The world tells us that we are helpless, hopeless and lost, but I know a Savior who gives help, hope and salvation. I know a Savior who provided a way for us to be escape the things of the world.

His name is Jesus and He was sent by God, the Father to fulfill His plan.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
(John 3:16-21 (NIV))

Did you notice anything in these word?

Light!

Light is truth. Fear does not live in light, It flourishes in darkness. Even though we may be walking through worldly darkness, we have a companion who walks with us and gives us His light.

Even though I walk
     through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
     for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
     they comfort me.
(Psalm 23:4 (NIV))

Are you walking with Jesus?

Why are you still afraid?
