Be honest!
Do you think of this verse as being applicable for the crucifixion and the resurrection?
You should!
Without the power and authority over sin and death firmly established through what happened at the cross and the empty tomb, the devil would still have authority over this sinful, fallen world.
Without the power and authority over your life through your profession of faith that Jesus died, was buried, rose again and now sits at the right hand of God the Father, the devil would still have authority over your life.
Why do so many believers cower in fear when the enemy attacks? Why do so many believers fail to recognize the power and authority that they have been given over the enemy?
Could it be due to the fact that we profess, but we don't truly submit? Could it be due to the fact that we say that we believe, but we lack the faith to trust in that belief?
Over the course of the next few days, think about just how solid the faith is that you profess. Think about what Jesus experienced on the cross. Think about these words spoken by Jesus to the disciples.
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
(John 16:33 (NIV))
Think about the disciples hiding during the three days that Jesus was in the tomb. Think about the resurrection on that glorious Sunday morning. Then I want you to think about how the disciples reacted. Think about the boldness that they exhibited. Think about their willingness to go into all the world. Think about their willingness to face persecution and death. Would they have done all of that for a lie? Would they have done all of that if they had not truly experienced the risen Savior and completely submitted to Him?
Are you truly submitted to the Lord?
