But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile.
(Exodus 2:3 (NIV))

We all know the story of Moses' birth. We look at it and most people see a series of coincidences. For those who truly rely on the Lord, we see much more.

We see faith. We see trust, and we see hope!

What can we learn from this?

What kind of faith must a woman have to place her infant son in a basket in a river?

What kind of faith must a woman have to trust that the right person will find him and save him?

What kind of faith must a woman have to trust that her son would not die?

His mother had to completely surrender her son. She had to trust that his life would be spared. She had to hope that her actions would lead to something more than the death of her son.

Most of us will never face such a decision. Most of us will never experience anything close to this, yet, we must understand that it is not the scale of the situation, it is the attitude that we have as we walk through that situation. If we focus on the troubles of this world, we worry.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
(Matthew 6:34 (NIV))

We must learn to surrender every situation to the Lord. We must learn to keep our eyes focused on Jesus. We must learn to be obedient to five simple words.

Let go and let God!
