Be Still . . .

I desire to do your will, my God;
your law is within my heart."
(Psalm 40:8 (NIV))
Have you ever found yourself saying this?
If not, why not?
Think about that for a moment as you reflect on your profession of faith that Jesus is who John said He is.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
(John 1:1-5 (NIV))
If you profess a faith that Jesus is your Lord and Savior, then the words recorded by David should describe you. They should be the reflection that you see when you look in the mirror. They should be how others see you.
There is more to following Jesus than simply a profession that you believe.
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
(John 14:12 (NIV))
Doing the things that Jesus did means that you will do what the Father does.
I realize that we are all sinful and fallen, but it is a choice to follow the Lord. It is a decision that must be made and adhered to every single moment of your life. Will you be able to uphold this decision? Thankfully, God looks at the heart.
Do you desire to be like David?
Does this describe you?
