When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
(John 8:12 (NIV))

Can Jesus ever walk in darkness?

Think about that as you think about a candlelight service at church. All lights go out and then a single candle is lit. It becomes the center of attention. Soon, other candles are lit and you begin to see the faces of the people holding the candles. You begin to see the darkness recede as the light becomes stronger. We light those candles to represent the light of Jesus going into the world.

What happens to the darkness when it is exposed to the light?

Darkness runs from the light!

There is no stronger light than the light of Jesus!

Think about that in a different context. If you are walking in the dark, you carry a flashlight to illuminate your way so you don't stumble and fall. When we walk through this dark and sinful world, we stumble and fall if we don't follow the light of Jesus.

Are you following Jesus?

If we truly follow Jesus, we will still have times where we stumble and fall. It becomes a matter of priorities. It becomes a desire to walk in His light and not in the darkness of this world. It requires a repentant heart and a decision to get back up and continue on the journey with Jesus. As we walk with Jesus, we will learn His heart. We will learn His desires and we will begin to reflect His heart and His desires in our lives.

In other words, we will reflect the light of Jesus because we will truly know the light of Jesus.
