Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
(Galatians 2:20 (NIV))
Did you feel the lashes?
Did the thorns pierce your head?
Did you fall under the weight of the cross?
Did the nails pierce your hands and feet?
Did the spear pierce your side?
Were you buried in a borrowed tomb?
Think about all of the things that Jesus suffered in order to bring you salvation.
Did He deserve to suffer?
He willingly took upon Himself our punishment. In exchange, He willingly gave us His righteousness so that we can see the promise fulfilled of an eternity in His presence.
Was it fair?
I don't know about you, but I am eternally thankful that it was not. It was an unfair exchange where He took all of our sin and shame and gave us His righteousness. All that we have to do is believe!
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
(John 3:16-18 (NIV))
Since we have just celebrated the Resurrection, I want you to truly stop and reflect on what Jesus went through. I want you to think about the anguish and pain that He willingly suffered so that you can live by the faith of knowing that He died to set you free!
Do you truly understand the depths of His love?
