Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing

God is faithful!

Unfortunately, we have countless times all throughout the Bible where people simply didn't listen to the warnings that He spoke through His prophets?

We read about these events and through our prideful human nature, we think that we would have never responded the way that those people did. But what makes us different from them? They were able to look back on the faith of Noah, Abraham and Moses, yet they still missed what was right before them.

They failed to see their own shortcomings while claiming that they knew the truth!

What about you?

What about us?

Are we paying attention to what God is calling righteous and good? Are we paying attention to the events that He is unfolding right before our eyes? Are we being obedient to those who are declaring the truth of His Word? Are we being obedient to what the Lord tells us is righteous and true?

Or are we like the people that we read about? Are we like the people that Jesus spoke to the crowds about?

"Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.
(Matthew 23:37 (NIV))

God always tells us what He is going to do.

The problem is that we don't have a history of paying attention. We don't have a history of listening.

Are we listening?
