Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
(Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV))
What do you do in your church?
What do you do with your life?
Do you simply fill a title or a position because that is what is needed, or do you use your talents and gifts that God has given you so that His ministries may reach people?
Unfortunately, too many people do not realize that there is a difference. It is the same concept that many may have heard in a slightly different way.
Do you work at the church or do you do the work of the church?
Holding a title in your church does not necessarily mean that you are doing what is needed. Too many people look upon the title as the culmination of their church membership. It is a thing of prestige and not a springboard for furthering the Gospel.
What has God given to you that you can use to reach people? Not all are called to be preachers. Not all are called to be prophets. Not all are called to be evangelists, but God calls each of us and gives each of us talents that we are to use to further His Kingdom. You may be called to works of services. You may be called to offer compassion. You may be called to intercede in prayer.
No gift from God is to be looked upon as more important or less important. The enemy lies to us and tells us that some gifts are more important for he does not want us to use our gifts. If you have the gift of prayer, what happens if you do not lift up something to God? If you have the gift of evangelism, what happens if you do not preach the good news? If you have the gift of compassion, what happens if you do not offer this compassion to someone in need?
No gift is worth more than another. Each gift that God gives is important and is given for a reason. Don't ignore what God has given to you simply because it does not fit your ego or pride. Allow God to work through you to reach out to those who are in need. You will be surprised at what He can accomplish if you will only allow Him to work through you.
What has God given to you to use where you are?
What has God given to you to take and step out in faith?
What has God given to you?
