Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
(Psalms 103:8 (NIV))
All you have to do is take a look at the condition that the world is in to realize that this is true!
He keeps waiting for people to turn from their wicked ways and to return to Him. There will come a time, though, when God will no longer wait. Humanity will have been given all of the time that God will allow. Once that happens, His anger will be directed at those who have spent a lifetime mocking Him and denying His existence.
For those who hate the condition of the world, where anything goes, you are not alone!
God is compassionate.
Even in the midst of all of the chaos in this world, He still does not wish for any to perish. That is why He is slow to anger. Anger is not a trait that is of love. Compassion comes from love. Anger comes from a hatred. Hatred can come from many different things. People get angry because they hate their lives, or because they hate someone. God does not hate people. He hates their sin. When God gets angry, it is at the sins of the people that provoke His anger.
Eventually, God will reach that point where He can no longer stand the sins of His creation.
When this point comes, where will you be in relation to God's anger? Will you escape His anger? It is my bet that if you are reading this, you have made the commitment to accept His Son, Jesus, as your Savior.
Is your commitment earnest and sincere?
Are you a prodigal who needs to return home?
Are you lost and alone?
Don't wait because of how you understand that God is slow to anger.
What happens if you are too slow in turning to Him?
Don't wait another day!
