Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
(Colossians 3:12 (NIV))
Are you properly dressed?
Think about that for a moment.
If you want to come across as able to do a certain job, you dress appropriately at the job interview.
If you want to impress someone on a date, you start off by dressing appropriately.
If you play a sport, you wear the appropriate uniform.
If you are an actor, you dress the part.
With all of these examples to follow, why do people have trouble identifying someone as a follower of Jesus? Do we not dress the part? Do we not convey to the world that we follow Jesus based on the impressions that we leave?
We don't need to put on a suit and tie. We don't need to dress to impress. We simply need to live as Jesus lived.
We must be obedient to the Helper that was sent to guide us. We must live by the Spirit. We must be clothed with the attributes of the Spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
(Galatians 5:22-23a (NIV))
What are you clothed with?
