I attended a men's conference last weekend that used the full passage as one of it's main points on Friday evening.

The concept wasn't new to me, but it did drive home something that I have understood for a long time.

We are at war!

And it is not just focused on men.

It impacts everyone alive!

If you profess a faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you recognize the truth that we live in a sinful, fallen world. You recognize the truth that we are all sinners in need of a Savior. You should also recognize the truth about the conflict that the enemy will never let rest. The enemy is a thief with a single focus.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;
(John 10:10a (NIV))

If you are facing attacks, rejoice in the knowledge that the enemy does not attack his own, just as an army does not wage war on itself. The enemy sees you as who you are, a follower of Jesus, and he will do all within his power to destroy that faith.

If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand?

Are there things in your life that keep you from Jesus?

Is there sin in your life that seems small at the moment? This is the point that the enemy uses to weaken you and attack. This can happen to anyone who professes a faith in Jesus, whether just a new believer or if the faith walk has been fifty years. All it takes is a small sin to give the enemy a place to attack from, and he will attack.

We must do as Paul instructed the believers in Ephesus.

We must be prepared. We must always be watchful.

We are at war!
