For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
(2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV))

I probably should have written this a few days ago, since what I am looking at is happening on August 12.

In case you hadn't heard, there are three signs in the heavens that all happen in one day, and many people are expecting something much greater to happen. These signs are:

1. All of the planets align and are visible in the predawn hours.
2. A complete solar eclipse is visible in certain parts of the world. A solar eclipse has always been Biblically interpreted as judgment on the nations.
3. A meteor shower is visible in the night sky.

These events have many people looking at scripture to try to pinpoint the exact moment that we currently find ourselves in God's timeline. I understand that completely. We are curious by nature. We are also extremely sinful by nature. When our curiosity becomes more focused on the "what" and the "when" instead of the "who," we have started placing the events over the One whom these events point to. Some even look to these events with fear because they are not looking to the Lord.

When you consider all of these things in conjunction with all of the events that have been transpiring in this sinful, fallen world, you can come away with one of three perspectives.

1. You see the world in fear
2. You become jaded and ignore everything
3. You recognize the events for what they are and you look up in response to what we are told in Luke

Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
(Luke 21:28 (NKJV))

The choice is yours, and it depends in whom you have placed your trust.

Personally, I love the words recorded in Joshua.

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."
(Joshua 24:15 (NIV))

What choice have you made?
