If you do not stand firm in your faith,
you will not stand at all
(Isaiah 7:9b (NIV))

There is an old saying that if you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything!

In today's world, we must stand firm in our faith. We must stand for God, and stand firm. Do not waiver from the Word of God, or the world will develop a stronghold that will grow.

There is also another old saying that you are what you eat!

With that in mind, what does your diet consist of?

If you daily eat from the Word of God, then you will fill yourself with righteousness and faith. Faith is something that needs constant feeding and care. Faith must be nurtured. It is not a one time profession and then you go about your life as if nothing happened. Faith needs to grow. It needs to mature.

Think of faith as a seed. If you do not water and feed a seed, it will die. It may sprout and start to grow, but without good soil and the proper care, it will wither and fade from existence.

Then he told them many things in parables, saying: "A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.
(Matthew 13:3-8 (NIV))

Faith is a seed that God has planted in our hearts. He does not tend the garden of our faith. He gives us opportunities to allow our faith to grow, but it is our responsibility. We must daily feed our faith and tend to it properly so that it grows as God has planned.

Faith is from God, but it is our responsibility to nurture it. If we do not nurture it, something else will take its place and grow. This will leave us with a void in our lives that will be filled by the world. Then our faith will fade and we will no longer stand with God.
