In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
(Matthew 5:16 (NIV))
Whether you know it or not, your actions glorify something in the eyes of those around you.
Your actions reflect what is in your heart!
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
(Matthew 6:21 (NIV))
What do you truly treasure? In other words, what do you glorify?
Is it wealth? Perhaps it is power. Do you seek fame? Just what is it that you seek? What shines from your life? What is the single thing about you that everyone notices when they see you?
I find it interesting that these traits are often obvious to others, yet we fail to recognize our own priorities when we look in the mirror. I want to give you some homework. This will not be a simple one time task. I want you to pray for the Lord to open your eyes and show you your true priorities. I want you to pray that the treasure that you hide in your heart in Jesus. I want you to pray that when others see you, you glorify the Lord.
Let's start by asking one simple question.
What do others see you glorifying?
