Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
(1 Peter 5:8 (NIV))
Do you feel as if you are being devoured?
I realize that for years I have been saying to stay watchful for the enemy is increasing his attacks.
I have not been alone!
When you take a look at the current state of the world, what do you see?
Are you seeing God's plan unfolding right before your eyes, or are you only focused on your immediate circle and how these events impact you? Do you seek wisdom by studying the scriptures, or do you shrug your shoulders and go about your own life without even giving this world another thought?
The enemy is the father of lies. He has been busy. There are wars and rumors of wars. Nations are fighting each other. Countries are fighting each other. Prices are going up. What is evil is being called good, and what is good is being called evil. Families are torn apart in the name of healing. Perversion is being pushed as alternate lifestyles, and tolerance only works one way. If you disagree with someone, violence has become the solution.
Are you alert?
At the same time, we are seeing hundreds and thousands of people accepting Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. We have seen revivals in places that you would not believe. One video that I saw had me in tears. It was a very large congregation and they were singing contemporary worship songs that many of us know, but, they were singing in Farsi. Farsi is the primary language in Iran. At the same time, I have also seen reports of mass murders of believers in the same area. I can't say with certainty that the reports are true, but one thing I do know is that something is happening all across the world. The wheat and the tares are growing up equally. Which will you be?
It is time to be vigilant. It is time to be in prayer. It is time to be watching and waiting for Jesus. Even if the things happening in this world are leading up to the culmination of God's plan many years from now, we must be vigilant. We must stand firm in our faith. We don't want to fall for the lies of the enemy.
The enemy is extremely active!
