But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Where do you consider your home to be?

Is it where you were born? Perhaps it is where you graduated from high school. Perhaps it is where you currently reside. Perhaps you simply think of yourself as a citizen of this country and you consider the whole nation to be your home.

No matter where you may call your home, no matter where you claim citizenship, this is only a temporary place of residence. As believers, we have a permanent home in heaven. Jesus has ascended into heaven to prepare a place for us where our citizenship is eternal.

In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
(John 14:2 (NIV))

We will be with our Lord in heaven!

We will worship God in spirit and in truth. We will be received into citizenship through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

But, this is only part of the wonderful news. The best part is that Jesus will return for us personally. He will personally escort all who call upon His name as their Lord and Savior. Jesus will personally take us to where He now is. He will escort us into our eternal citizenship.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
(John 14:3 (NIV))

Think about that concept.

When you moved to your current residence, did the mayor of the city escort you to your home?

The Son of the Most High God who is the Creator of all things, will personally bring each of us into heaven. We should be eager to see Jesus, for when we see Him, we will be able to realize the fulfilling of the promises He has made. We will be in heaven!

Are you eager to see Jesus and to claim your new citizenship?

Are you eagerly waiting?
