Perseverance!
I don't know about you, but I am tired.
There is so much going on in the world right now that I just can't keep up with it all. I had long ago come to the realization that it is not possible to fully comprehend all that God is unfolding in the world at this point in history. Add to this the daily requirements that our society places upon us to perform and achieve, and it becomes a constant struggle to keep my eyes focused on Jesus in and through all things that I face in a day.
Do you feel that same way?
I love my quiet time each evening when I sit down and dive into God's Word and write, but lately, all that I am capable of doing is staring repeatedly at the Words that bring life as I groan in my spirit. I don't know what to pray for when there is so much to pray for. I don't know what to write because each passage of Scripture hits me in such a way that all I can do is groan. I have found that it is impossible to put my groans into words that I can share with others.
I am weak!
I need help!
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
(Romans 8:26-27 (NIV))
I don't know about you, but I have been doing a lot of groaning lately. My spirit is willing, but my flesh is weak.
I need grace and mercy. I need hope. I need renewal. Thankfully, I know where I can find all of this and more. I need more of Jesus!
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
(Matthew 11:28 (NIV))
We must hold fast to the promises that are all "Yes" in Jesus!
We must keep our eyes focused on Jesus, for He will give us rest.
Don't give up!
