Be Still . . .

They will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation."
(2 Peter 3:4 (NIV))
How long ago did you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior?
Are you still patiently waiting for Jesus to return as He promised, or have you lost the enthusiasm you once had?
It has been about two thousand years since He ascended into heaven, and we are still waiting for the event that the angels told the disciples would happen.
"Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."
(Acts 1:11 (NIV))
Sadly, too many people mock the promises that we, as believers, were given. The words recorded in 2 Peter 3:4 are just a sampling of that mockery.
Are we hearing these types of words today?
More importantly, are you beginning to think like this yourself?
The current state of this world tells me that we shouldn't have to wait too much longer. Even if it doesn't happen in our lifetimes, waiting for the fulfillment of these promises is far better than rejecting these promises.
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
(Romans 3:23 (NIV))
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 6:23 (NIV))
I don't know about you, but patiently waiting is far better than receiving the wages we deserve for our sin.
Are you patiently waiting?
