Be Still . . .

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
(John 8:32 (NIV))
These words were originally spoken by Jesus to the Jews who had professed a faith in Him. These words closed out a thought that instructed the new believers to hold to His teachings in order to receive the truth and the freedom.
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.
(John 8:31 (NIV))
In other words, we are to be obedient to what Jesus instructed us to do. We are to be obedient in all of the difficult teachings and not just the ones that are easy.
How does this fit in with what we all know.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
(John 3:16-18 (NIV))
We are to believe in Jesus, but it must be a belief that lasts.
That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. Then he told them many things in parables, saying: "A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop - a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.”
(Matthew 13:1-9 (NIV))
We are to believe through the hard times. We are to believe through the difficult teachings. We are to hold fast to Jesus no matter what may come our way.
That is how you know truth.
That is how you know freedom.
With that said, I have a question that I want to ask.
