Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God - children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
(John 1:12-13 (NIV))
This is what it means to be born again!
We become children of God!
We became children of sin through Adam and Eve.
God cannot associate with sin, even though He created us. He is our Father, yet, we gave up our status as His children when we allowed sin into our lives. There is no way that we can get that status back on our own.
We lost that Father - child relationship.
Perhaps it is for this reason that God devised the plan for us to be "born again" so that we could again be the sinless child sitting on our Father's lap. Being children of God requires a divine intervention in order for the rebirth to occur. This intervention takes our sin and our sinful nature and removes it through grace and mercy. We again become the sinless children that God created us to be. The children of God who have turned the tables on sin by rejecting it and returning to God, the Father.
Have you returned to your Father?
The Father's love has made it all possible.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
(John 3:16-18 (NIV))
God's love allows us to become children of God.
Have you accepted this family lineage?
