Be Still . . .

"Be still, and know that I am God;

For twenty-eight years I have answered the call to encourage people to spend time daily in God's presence!

I have attempted to do so diligently and obediently, but sometimes I have found myself needing a break so that my spiritual batteries could be rejuvenated. I believe that in the course of the twenty-eight years I have only taken a handful of these breaks, for I take this assignment seriously. The last two weeks were one of those times that I stepped away to refresh and rejuvenate, and what I encountered encouraged me tremendously.

I can only imagine what this world originally looked like. I can only imagine what the restored world will looked like once Jesus returns. Sadly, all of us know what humanity has done to God's creation, still there are wonderful glimpses all around us. Unfortunately, we get so engrossed in our day to day lives that we miss what God has placed right before us. This applies to both the beauty that He has given to us and to the sad state of the world that we see on a daily basis.

We spent the last two weeks going cross country in a rented 30 foot RV moving my son and daughter-in-law to a new state for new and exciting jobs. We encountered stress on day 1 with the RV and the issues continued the whole trip. We also encountered amazing blessings during the same time. We were blessed with each other's company. We were blessed with no radio, so we talked to each other. We were blessed with amazing scenery that God so graciously provided, and we were blessed by constant encounters with people along the way.

I am amazed to say that God is using this devotional ministry to reach areas of the world that I would never imagine. During this trip, I was reminded that even in our own country, people are not like they are in my own back yard. At the same time, all of us are more alike than we realize. I lost count of the bumper stickers, billboards, and T-shirts that I saw that had a Jesus centered message. I also lost track of the number of times that we were encouraged by other believers.

To put things in a nutshell, your problems may seem big, but we have a much bigger God. All that we need to do is repent, turn to Jesus and sit at the foot of the cross.

No matter what may be happening in this world, He has all of the answers.

No matter what may be happening in your life, He has all of the answers.

The problem that I see, even in myself, is that we don't turn to Him. We fail to be obedient and be still.
