Teach me to do your will,

We know of David as a man after God's own heart, but even with this desire, this focus, David faced many trials and tests.

He was constantly facing attacks from enemies. He was constantly on the run. He had to hide in caves to escape his enemies, and all of this was between the time that he killed Goliath and the time that he took the throne. Even after becoming king, he faced many trials that we would consider overwhelming.

Through all of this, David stayed true to his faith. He prayed! Thankfully he wrote down his prayers, and through his writings we have the ability to read and understand his heart and his mind as he sought the Lord. Some were pleas for help. Others were pleas for strength, while others were pleas for Godly wisdom.

What do we do when we face adversity, trials and tests?

Do we stand firm or do we cave in? Do we seek God or do we curl up and surrender to the attacks?

The choice is ours!

David constantly turned to the Lord. His writings reflect what he was facing, yet, they always turn back to his desire to focus on the Lord. He saw each adversity as a way to learn how to draw closer to God.

He saw his adversities as teachable moments, and he claimed those moments. He stood firm in his faith.

David was willing and eager to learn more each day about the Lord God. He was willing to follow where He leads.

What about you?

As you walk through this life and all the adversity that is thrown at you, are you willing to draw closer to the Lord?
