Blessed are they
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the man
whose sin the Lord will never count against him.
(Romans 4:7-8 (NIV))
When you look at yourself in the mirror, what do you see?
More importantly, when the Lord looks at you, what does He see?
Does He see someone that He knows?
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
(Matthew 7:21-23 (NIV))
Sitting in a church service doesn't make you known. Reading your Bible doesn't make you known. Putting your faith into action by doing the will of the Father makes you known.
Are you doing the will of the Father?
Just what is the will of the Father?
I honestly believe that it starts with accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and then it grows by allowing the Holy Spirit to live within you as He brings you into maturity so that you bear fruit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
(Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV))
Against such things . . .
Have you ever stopped to realize that God's laws tell us what not to do, but in essence, they are telling us the same thing as the fruit of the Spirit?
By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
(Matthew 7:16-20 (NIV))
Are you bearing good fruit?
Are you counted as blessed?
