Be Still . . .
Devotionals for Daily Living ©
To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God - children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
(John 1:12-13 (NIV))
This is what it means to be born again.
We become children of God!
We became children of sin through Adam and Eve, but God cannot associate with sin, even though He created us. He is our Father, yet, we gave up our status as His children when we allowed sin into our lives. There is no way that we can get that status back on our own.
We lost that Father - child relationship.
Perhaps it is for this reason that God devised the plan for us to be "born again" so that we could again be the sinless child sitting on our Father's lap.
Being children of God requires a divine intervention in order for the rebirth to occur. This intervention takes our sin and our sinful nature and removes it through grace and mercy. We again become the sinless children that God created us to be. We become children of God who have turned the tables on sin by rejecting it and returning to God, the Father.
Have you returned to your Father?
Don't wait to return, for we are not promised tomorrow. This moment is all that we may have. Do you believe in the name of Jesus?
Don't wait another moment!
